I’ve always loved that God blessed me with a creative gene. It affects everything from what I wear in the morning to how I parent my children. I believe imagination fuels creativity and creativity fuels imagination; and I’m thankful to live in both worlds!

Over the years, I’ve cultivated that creativity with different hobbies like, photography, graphic design, interior decorating, painting, poetry… I even created a prototype for an invention! But I’ve always had a true passion for writing. My middle school English teacher graded one of my papers and wrote, “I wouldn’t be surprised to see your name in print one day! Great job!!" Who knew that comment was prophetic!

I started writing for an audience just a few years ago when I contributed to a local mom's blog and later created my own blog, TheWay-I-SeeIt, which humorously discusses topics that most people can relate to.... surviving fitness bootcamps, potty training toddlers, the joys of getting through airport security, etc. I sometimes laugh out loud when I write, and find that writing is something I truly get “lost in” and genuinely enjoy.

Family and friends are very important to me. Rod and I were married for 10 years before his Heavenly promotion; and we were blessed with two beautiful children who fill my days with joy... other days they drive me bat crazy. Although I wasn’t born with sisters, I gained eight of them at Texas State University where I pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and graduated with a degree in Computer Information Systems. I’m the oldest of three siblings born to two loving parents who’ve celebrated 43 years of “wedded blisters” as my dad affectionally jokes.

I’m a woman of faith who over the course of the year has really come to believe in the power of prayer. I used to lackadaisically pray, hoping God would answer, but not really expecting any change. Then with the loss of my husband in 2016, I took refuge in God’s arms and held tight to His promises to get me through my new way of life. I became closer to Him and my prayers went from half-hearted hopes as I dozed off at the end of the day, to an unwavering trust and belief that He would provide. It’s a walk I wish for every believer because the weight of worry disappears when you know you serve a God with whom anything is possible!
